Spotlight on the Washington Park Neighborhood
Our Washington Park Favorites
Let’s get straight to the point. Washington Park is one of Denver’s most popular neighborhoods for a multitude of reasons. Its close to Downtown Denver, there’s easy access to the Pearl Street and South Gaylord Street shops and restaurants, and its a family friendly community. You can spend the day playing volleyball in the park followed by a delicious dinner on South Gaylord. The wood, stone, and brick craftsman style homes give an inviting and welcoming feel to the neighborhood. You will see bikers, joggers, dog walkers, and families out for a stroll on any given day. The park is blossoming with flowers all summer, and the park benches by the lakes are the perfect place to watch the sunset with a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains. It is one of our favorite neighborhoods, and we’re excited to share some of it’s gems and features with you!
Wish Boutique
Wish Boutique is locally owned and operated. They carry the most amazing clothing and accessories you might not find anywhere else! They feature well known designers like Free People and Kendra Scott, but also pride themselves on their uniqueness and individuality. Their staff is extremely knowledgable, friendly, and welcoming. We guarantee you won’t leave Wish Boutique without an amazing outfit. Make sure to visit their two sister stores W Boutique (located just up the block) and Wish Gifts (4 blocks away). You’ll be back again and again!
Pearl Street Farmers Market
The Pearl Street Farmer’s Market is something you can’t miss! This year, the market runs from May 20th-November 19th (9am-1pm). Over 100 vendors participate in this event, ranging from fresh produce aficionados, to antique dealers, to local boutiques. This is a family friendly event where kids, dogs, and adults can enjoy themselves on a beautiful summer day. The Pearl Street Farmer’s Market successfully supports local vendors and businesses who want to share their wholesome and fresh products with the Denver community.
Bonnie Brae Ice Cream
Bonnie Brae Ice Cream is located a few short blocks from Washington Park. They are routinely named Denver’s Best Ice Cream Shop, and they make all of their flavors right there in store. We highly recommend their lemon custard or butter brickle! This is the perfect family friendly spot with lots of outdoor and indoor seating (for the winter months because ice cream is good all year round!).
Devil’s Food
Devils Food Restaurant is the perfect neighborhood breakfast spot. They have a large menu with plenty of variety for everyone in your party! This sweet little cookery’s interior is modeled after the original design of the space from the early Washington Park days. In a rush and need a cup of coffee on the go? Devil’s Food recently opened a coffee shop just 3 doors up from the cookery. Tip: you probably won’t leave without one of their mouth watering homemade pastries too!
Sushi Den
Are you looking for the perfect date night? Sushi Den is your place, located just a few blocks from Washington Park. Finding fresh fish in Denver can be rare. However, fish shipments arrive at Sushi Den’s door 24 hours after these fish are caught from the southernmost island of Japan. We guarantee you’ll enjoy their wide variety of sake, paired perfectly with any item on their menu. Sushi Den also has an amazing happy hour Monday- Saturday. You can find their happy hour menu and hours here. Enjoy!
Two Sole Sisters
Two Sole Sisters on South Gaylord is the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind shoes and accessories. The storefront is very warm and inviting, with a plethora of shoes and unique jewelry on display. The owners are sisters, and they want customers to feel like family! Need to venture outside of Denver? They also have a location in Boulder! We highly recommend this locally owned business if you’re looking for some show stopping footwear!
Bottle Shop 33
Bottle Shop 33 is the epitome of classy liquor store, serving up beer, wine, and spirits in the heart of Washington Park. They have a variety of tasting events, and even have valet parking and curbside pickup if you call ahead. The owners of Bottle Shop 33 are always out and about hand selecting and tasting in order to provide you with the best spirits the world has to offer. Their motto, ‘Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Bad Booze (or Wine)’ epitomizes their vision. We recommend Bottle Shop 33 if you’re looking for a unique, customizable liquor store experience!
