Thriving Art Scene in Denver’s Stapleton Neighborhood
Stapleton Open Studios Nights are this weekend! Visit local artists’ studios on Sept. 27th and 28th, 2014.
Stapleton has been many things, most notably the site of Denver’s previous airport and now the home of a bustling new community. Within this community can be found a flourishing art scene, as many of Denver’s countless artists and art lovers call Stapleton home.
Anyone in the Denver area interested in local art and artists are in luck this month, as the last weekend in September brings the second annual Stapleton Open Studios, a free event that offers a unique glance into the Stapleton art scene. Hosted by Art & Framing at Stapleton, this walking tour gives visitors the chance to see into the personal studios of artists located in this growing Denver landmark neighborhood. While visiting the artists’ studios, visitors will be able to view works in progress, demonstrations, and finished works of art. While enjoying the walking tour, you’ll also find local artists of the musical variety—“porch musicians” will provide live music throughout the event. All artists have a connection with Stapleton, and are excited to share their passion for art and community with their neighbors.
In addition to the walking tour on Saturday and Sunday, there is an Opening Reception, which will be held at Art & Framing at Stapleton (7483 E 29th St.) on Friday, September 26 from 6 to 8 pm. The reception will offer the opportunity to preview the artists’ works, and meet some of the artists beforehand.
For those interested in taking a piece of the event home with them, a commemorative poster, featuring an image of “Night Passage” by Stapleton artist Valli Thayer McDougle, will be available for purchase during the event.
Stapleton Open Studios will be a wonderful (and free!) opportunity to gain special insight into one of Denver’s thriving arts communities, while enjoying another beautiful fall evening in Colorado.
