Cherry Creek Welcomes Local Jones
Cherry Creek Welcomes Local Jones
The Old Departure Space Has a New Vibe
If you weren’t familiar with the Top Chef owned restaurant, Departure served up some of Colorado’s best Asian Cuisine. In the heart of the Cherry Creek neighborhood, departure thrived until COVID-19 impacted their business. Cherry Creek is often home to some of Denver’s most elegant restaurants, so it’s no surprise that the space was quickly snagged by Dallas chef Josh Sutcliff! Local Jones recently opened in Cherry Creek and yes, I checked it out rather quickly. They’re serving up great food, wine, and even better company. And, I love the outdoor seating options. I’ve been favoring outdoor dining, but on my first trip in I was seated just inside the huge doors that open and offer a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel!
What I love most is that the interior vibe matches that of Quality Italian (one of my favorite restaurants just next door) and the Halcyon lobby. While Departure was great, the ambiance never hit the mark for me. Local Jones sought out the same interior designer who helped complete the other two spaces lending to a more cohesive environment throughout the building.
What to Expect
Local Jones offers what they call “magnum Mondays.” During the dinner service, a magnum is selected for the guests to enjoy. Additionally, weekend brunch runs from 10-2pm, giving you plenty of time to catch-up with those special in your life. One of the things I’m loving most about this restaurant: their motto that serving simple, delicious food is one of the best ways to cultivate community. And it appears to be working because every time I walk by they are packed!
Want to dine privately? Choose from one of their many private dining rooms and menus. These spaces can seat up to 12 people normally (but be sure to ask in advance about COVID restrictions).
Let’s talk the menu. Chef Sutcliff worked hard to create a contemporary American menu that offers simplicity, yet elegance to your dining experience. He uses sustainable raised meats and seafoods, so you know what you’re eating is the good stuff! Be sure to head on over to Local Jones and enjoy their patio before the snow starts coming a bit more consistently.
If you stop in for dinner please do yourself the favor of ordering the Crispy Cauliflower & Spicy Garlic Aioli & The Confluence cocktail with a nod to Confluence Park.
