The first step in the home buying process is to chose a Realtor to work with who can show you properties and help you navigate some of the steps detailed below.
If you need to acquire financing for your purchase, contacting a lender at the beginning of your search is going to be paramount. Your lender can help you determine your price range while also factoring in taxes, insurance, HOA dues and potential PMI (private mortgage insurance) fees.
All lenders offer different products, services and fees. Please take the time to interview several lenders to find someone who can offer you both the right service and financing. All licensed lenders are required to provide you a GFE, or Good Faith Estimate, of the cost of obtaining your new loan. This document will be helpful to not only understand the various fees but will also assist in comparing different fees each lender charges so that you can easily compare the different options available to you.
