New Highlands Restaurant FNG
“I don’t know where I’m going from here, but, I promise it won’t be boring.” – David Bowie
There will always be something comfortable about classic rock. It’s approachable, familiar, it reminds us of our younger years, but it is still perpetually and inarguably, cool. This is the vibe that oozes out of FNG Restaurant, Troy Guard’s newest addition to a growing Highlands food scene.
The décor is cozy with an edge. The open kitchen and welcoming bar are definitely on-trend, but still very approachable. Albums from Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, and Jimi Hendrix, among many others, grid the wall for pops of color opposite a vibrant orange and yellow graphic angled paint job against a warm grey background. The north side, 32nd Ave-facing seating all opens up with garage-door windows, which makes us very excited for al-fresco summer dining. Shiny brass accents and some great vintage finds dot the interior making FNG equally polished and homey- in the best way! A special shout-out goes to The Simpsons pin-ball machine that greets you when you walk in the door.
With what we’re calling comfort food with a twist, the New American menu features classic feel-good dishes. Meatloaf, mac and cheese, and classically delicious burger (that’s only $6.50!) But, as goes with FNG’s overall theme, the comfortable menu is elevated with inclusions like rabbit pie, bison enchiladas, and house-cured meats for a charcuterie board that really deserves its own rock ballad. With something for everyone, this is the perfect restaurant to take your picky, meat-and-potatoes parents when they’re in town for the holidays.
