The Color of 2019: Living Coral!
The Best Way to Use Living Coral in Your Home This Year
The Color of a vibrant Sunset
Living coral is Pantone’s chosen Color of 2019. It’s not orange- it’s not peach- it’s not pink, but somewhere in between! I absolutely love it, and can’t wait to find every excuse possible to use it in my home. Living Coral is the new “it” color, so expect to see it in every interior design store you stop into next year.
Living coral is incredibly vibrant. So, you might be asking yourself, what are the best ways I can use this color that screams, “hello, I’m here!” in my understated home. I say, there’s room for living coral in everyone’s space. Read on to learn my favorite ways to use this color in your space.
Use Living Coral as an Accent Color: You don’t have to put it front and center. If you like a more understated look, adding living coral as an accent is a good way to incorporate it without making things look too busy. For example, I have a few brightly colored dish towels in my kitchen that add a pop of color to the area.
Pair with Foundational Colors: I would recommend pairing a color this bright with grays and whites. It looks so pretty next to understated colors, and it’s a great way to make living coral really pop!
Living Coral Artwork: Adding living coral themed art is a great way to introduce it to your space. Every year after the unveiling of Pantone’s color of the year, artwork featuring that color start to emerge. In short, you’ll have lots to choose from!
Pillows and Rugs: Adding accent pillows, faux furs, and carpeting with the color of the year can add a real pop of color to your space!
Accent Color Wall: This is for people who are completely ready to embrace the color of the year. Adding one accent wall is very in, and I highly recommend trying this out! Living Coral is a particularly bright color, so be sure you’re ready to add this to your room this year before you start painting! (Pssst….I won’t tell if you try this out with a different color, too!).
Brighten Up Any Room: Rooms that don’t get much light can really benefit from the vibrancy of living coral. We all have that one room in our house that feels like a dungeon in the winter time….so add some living coral to make that room something you want to spend time in.
Do you feel like you have “an innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits” when it comes to your home? An “animating and life-affirming shade of orange with a golden undertone” should help you find that peace and vibrancy your home is looking for. Additionally, 2019 will be showing us lots of living coral in clothing stores, salons, and design studios.
